Faka'apa'apa is the conscious and selfless act of acknowledging and giving respect.
This design is from the Ulukakala village of Feletoa in Vava'u. It is said to be the pattern of the tuna flesh when cut across the middle, and four makers @ividesigns it represents strength, home, journeys, support and growth.
Part of the Tupu'anga project, we are proud to share this pair of earrings. The tapa is handmade and handpainted here in Auckland by IVI Designs before being handmade into unique pieces of jewellery by Koloa Jewellery.
These earrings are 6cm long.
A portion of the sale will return to the Kingdom of Tonga to support projects focused on growing, nourishing, teaching and creating quality koloa.
All findings are hypoallergenic.
